What We Do

Thomas Newman Consulting  Thomas Newman Consulting was formed in 2006.  Since formation it has been involved with solving issues in the post trade end of the financial markets working with a range of stakeholders   •	Banks •	Financial Industry Utilities •	Central banks and regulators •	Non–bank Financials •	Funds and Fund Managers •	Corporations  Recently the focus of work has been in the areas of responding to new regulatory requirements coming from recent Dodd Frank and EMIR type legislation. Work on risk management, liquidity management settlement and clearing has become increasingly important to the markets and has taken centre stage from the prior focus on strategy, pricing and product development in the FX, cash and derivatives back office.

Thomas Newman Biography
Tom Newman has been involved in the international financial markets for many years. He started his career in international banking after which he moved into the traded capital markets side of the business before joining an industry utility for the FX market, spending more than 10 years in each area.

Tom was raised outside Chicago and attended Princeton University where he graduated with honours in Economics. After serving as an officer in the navy, he received an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in London.

 

Experience
Tom has gained a wide range of skills and experience in both the traded financial markets and commercial banking environments from the following positions:

  • Managing Director and Head of fixed income government bond trading business in the securities markets
  • London Branch Manager with traditional commercial banking products in  credit and payments
  • Chief Operating Officer roles in traded and capital markets
  • Relationship and Product management responsibility in an industry utility
  • Management team experience in the above positions

This wide range of responsibilities has developed a diverse skill set with excellent perspective of end to end organisations:

  • From the perspective of management of Front Office Profit centres derived from  trading and sales as well as commercial banking
  • From the perspective of control and processing management
  • From the perspective of customer facing management

This range of experience spans end to end decision making and responsibility for products and services in the financial markets.
